What does it actually take to consistently produce $100,000 or more per month as a dentist?
That question inspired Dr. Paul Goodman’s “How Do Successful Dentists Consistently Achieve $100,000+ in Monthly Production?” webinar series, where dentists share the clinical, business, and communication strategies that have contributed to their success.
One conversation that stood out featured Dr. Omid Khaksarfard, a 2025 dental school graduate who quickly became a high-producing associate before leaving to pursue his goal of practice ownership.
His story makes one thing clear: there isn’t one secret to producing $100K+ per month.
Here are four lessons from his journey.
1. Maximize opportunities to build your clinical skills
Dr. Omid didn’t wait until graduation to start building confidence.
During dental school, he actively sought additional hands-on opportunities, spent time in specialty departments, and completed significantly more than some of his minimum clinical requirements.
As Dr. Omid explained, “the confidence comes from the amount of time I was in dental school, in specialty departments.”
His advice challenges the idea that completing the minimum requirements means you’re finished learning. The more intentional reps you get, the more opportunities you have to build your skills and confidence.
2. Build a procedure mix around what you can execute well
When Dr. Goodman asked about his procedure mix, Dr. Omid was quick to caution against comparing yourself to another dentist.
“It’s really hard to compare to what everyone else is doing,” he explained.
His own mix ranged from bread-and-butter dentistry to surgery, extractions, prosthodontics, and comprehensive treatment planning. But the important part wasn’t simply doing more procedures. He focused on procedures he could confidently execute from beginning to end and referred cases when another clinician could provide better or more efficient care.
High production doesn’t have to mean doing everything. Case selection matters.
3. Invest in CE you can actually apply
Continuing education played a major role in Dr. Omid’s development, but his message wasn’t simply to take more courses.
He encouraged dentists to consider the “art of CE choosing” and look for education that provides tools, resources, and protocols they can bring back and implement in their everyday dentistry.
He also emphasized that taking a course alone isn’t enough. The value comes from applying what you learn to your patients, treatment planning, and clinical decision-making.
4. Never underestimate patient communication
Clinical knowledge is only part of the equation.
Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Omid worked in hospitality. He credits that experience with helping him learn how to connect with different personalities and “read the room” when interacting with patients.
As he explained, patients aren’t moving forward with treatment simply because you know how to prep a tooth. They move forward when they connect with you and trust you.
That mindset also influenced how he approached comprehensive care and conversations about finances. Instead of making assumptions about what patients might choose, the focus was on educating them about their options and giving them the opportunity to decide.
There is no single $100K formula.
Dr. Omid’s story isn’t a blueprint every dentist needs to copy. In fact, he repeatedly emphasized that every dentist has a different story, situation, and level of confidence.
That may be one of the biggest lessons from the entire webinar.
Reaching a higher level of production isn't about finding one magic procedure or scheduling hack. For Dr. Omid, it involved building clinical skills, selecting cases intentionally, investing in education, applying what he learned, and developing the communication skills to build trust with patients.
And his story is just one perspective.
The “How Do Successful Dentists Consistently Achieve $100,000+ in Monthly Production?” series gives you the opportunity to hear from dentists with different backgrounds, practice models, procedure mixes, and approaches to production.
